Dear Family, Friends & Colleagues,

Taquonck’s Legacy Lives On

Taquonck’s Treasures…
     Strength and Endurance
     Compassion and Love
     Vulnerabilty and Grace
     Gratitude and Humanity
     Patience and Humility

While Taquonck is not with us in body, his spirit lives strong in our hearts and souls each day. It is hard to believe it has been nearly two years since he left our presence. We find comfort in knowing he lives in complete peace and some day our souls will be reunited, but still find it hard to adjust to our boy not being here to hold. I know our souls are here temporarily, and our purpose is only known by our maker often leaving me wondering what is my soul here to do? What was Taquonck’s soul here to do? What I do know is my journey with Taquonck has given me Strength and Endurance to move me forward when it seems impossible to do so. Taquonck’s life provided our family with the unique ability to empathize and understand the struggles of others, to Love and have Compassion for families who struggle with the challenges of raising children with special needs. We understand that life does not always provide you with what you hope for, which is Humbling for the spirit and requires Patience that is not easy to muster up. It requires your soul to be Vulnerable to those experiences you cannot control and have the Grace to forge through the pain of the challenges you face. These lessons or “Treasure” Taquonck has left my soul, were not acquired over night, or easily. I have met most of the Treasures with much resistance and questions. I do not know why Taquonck’s life was short or riddled with challenges, I can not say I wouldn’t trade back my Treasures if I could have my son whole and well. What I can say for sure is Taquonck had a purpose, one I am not privy to the entire meaning, but I know we will move forward to honor his life by paying it forward and helping those in need and to improve the lives of those with disabilities and challenges. I will forever be Grateful an honored to be his mother and carry his torch of giving.

Race Info: Taquonck’s Treasures 5K Run/Walk/Wheel is being held on the last day of summer to bring in the “Leaves of Fall” to open opportunities for all children to enjoy our communities along with their families and friends, without barriers or limitation. We hope to raise enough funds to equip our community playground with handicapped playground equipment and walkways that assist those with physical limitations. The Deary’s have joined forces with their “Brave” Caleb, to host Caleb’s Challenge for Children, bringing children of all abilities together to enjoy and participate. Taquonck has left a lasting legacy of compassion and love to all those who new him and we hope to honor the “Treasures” he gave to so many by improving opportunities for all children along side our dear friends the Deary’s and in partnership with our Charlestown Harvest Fall Festival.
